Certified Meeting Professional (CMP)

Interested in achieving your Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation? The MPI Oregon Chapter provides education for the clock hours you need in order to apply, scholarships to help you pay for the application, books and testing fees, as well as offers study group sessions to prepare.

CMP 101 Orientation
Join us for a FREE CMP 101 Orientation. The orientation is a webinar from 12:00 – 1:00 pm (so there is no hassle driving somewhere or trying to find a parking spot).

CMP Study Group
The study group is a ten-week program, which typically meets weekly on Tuesday evenings for 90 minutes. The study group covers all domains and topics contained in the CMP International Standards (CMP-IS) outlined in the syllabus. In addition, you will take practice exams with answers based on actual test questions from the exam. This series of regular infusions of knowledge will better prepare you throughout the months leading up to the exam and help you stay on track with your studying.

The CMP study group is open to anyone planning to take the exam.

Study Group Schedule

  • Fall Study Group 2017: September 6 – November 6, 2017
  • Spring Study Group 2018: February 21 – May 2, 2018

Location & Timing
The study sessions will take place in the downtown Portland area (and online).Exact location will depend on number of registered participants. Be sure to check the chapter website for location details. Sessions will be on Wednesday nights from 6 pm–8 pm. Dinner is not included.

Registration fees for ten-week study group are $75 for MPI Oregon members and $125 for non-members.  Click here to register!

The above registration fee entitles you to full participation in all 10 classes, all practice quizzes and class materials, and access to a network of CMPs who donate their time serving as speakers to help you prepare for the CMP exam.

The CMP-HC Subspecialty

In 2014, the Convention Industry Council launched the Certified Meeting Professional healthcare subspecialty (CMP-HC) program to address the needs of a growing segment of CMPs who manage the production of meetings in the healthcare industry.  Those seeking this certification must first pass the CMP exam. Certification in Meeting Management (CMM)

The Certificate in Meeting Management (CMM) program is an intensive study program that offers a customized, participatory training program from university professors associated with renowned Darden School of Business from the University of Virginia.
