Get ready for a first-ever MPI Oregon Chapter Industry Summit packed full of learning for both Planners and Suppliers.
Kick start the new year with fresh ideas around everyone’s favorite topic of ‘negotiation.’ Our opening speaker, Carrie Welles, has redefined the meaning of business negotiation. We won’t be just talking about a long list of tactics, behaviors and principles, but rather she’ll teach us about the Think! approach that proves that 97% of buyer behavior in negotiation can be anticipated and that with almost perfect certainty you can predict what will happen across all your deals over the course of 2017. In this two hour interactive session, you will have the opportunity to audit your own personal negotiation process through a fun (yes fun and negotiation do go together here in this session!) case study exercise. You won’t believe what you don’t know about negotiating for success!
Following the opening speaker and lunch, suppliers will head into a session just for them (talk about whatever you want because the planners are out of the room!) led by MPI Global’s Industry Research Expert, Jessie States. The meeting cycle looks a lit different than it did 10 years ago and the challenges meeting professionals face continue to stymie their progress and imped the success of their events. What does that meant to you, the supplier? It means you are no longer being tasked with just providing a product, but also with providing education, leadership and strategic solutions. This session, Change Your Mindset from Sales to Strategic Partner will help you discover what challenges planners encounter regularly and start thinking and brainstorming with your supplier peers about how you can help your partner clients exceed their goals.
Planners will head to the Planner Interactive Collaborative Roundtables and share insight and advice with each other – who hasn’t walked away with great ideas and advice at past MPI roundtables? Choose from a host of topics or suggest one yourself during the online registration process!
Everyone will come back together for our closing speaker, Portlander Greg Bell who we are lucky enough to find in town and able to join us at the Industry Summit! His ‘Water the Bamboo’ management technique is a solution to unleashing the potential of teams and individuals. A popular motivational speaker who gets great attendee reviews, Greg’s intuitive knack for solving problems and the ability to drive change will leave us all with ideas we can take back to the office and start using right away.
After a day of new ideas, networking and learning we’ll wind down with happy hour to share what we learned with our fellow planners and suppliers! If you aren’t able to be with us for the Industry Summit, please join us just for the happy hour – we’d love to share with you what we learned all day!
